Cotinus coggygria Royal Purple – Purple Smokebush

A popular shrub or Cotinus coggygria Royal Purple can also grow into an attractive small tree. It provides beautiful foliage colour through the Summer – with its soft dark purple leaves. In late Spring-early Summer it produces delicate, small yellow flowers on light purple stems. From a distance these flowers give a stunning distinct smoke-like texture-hence the common name. In Autumn the leaves turn shades of purple and burgundy. Can be pruned to fit into a smaller garden.
