Pear Durondeau

An attractive dessert pear-tree from spring to autumn, Pyrus communis Durondeau also has a compact habit, making it a good choice for smaller gardens. It’s a regular and heavy cropper, and the leaves turn brilliant red in autumn. The blossom has good resistance to frost, and the tree has some resistance to scab. The fruits are medium to large, rather long, yellow flushed red, and slightly russeted; the flavour is quite good, and the fruit is juicy and stores well. Pear Durondeau will crop better with a compatible pollination partner.
