Physocarpus opulifolius Red Baron
Grown for its wonderful, changing leaf-colour, Physocarpus opulifolius Red Baron is a smaller cultivar of this very hardy species. It’s a medium-sized, slow-growing, deciduous shrub with a spreading, bushy, suckering habit. The small, three-lobed leaves are a rich deep red, borne on red stems, an invaluable contribution to the shrub border. These set off the pinkish-white flowers well; the flowers are followed by small red fruits. Cut back stems after flowering for bigger, better leaves.
