Sitka spruce
This is a widely planted forestry tree, native to Eastern U.S. Fast growing and tolerates difficult conditions. Everyone knows this tree as the dominant forestry tree in Ireland, but it can also be planted as a specimen in a larger garden. With its dark green foliage which will touch the ground, it provides a perfect backdrop to enhance the appearance of smaller trees or shrubs.
