Chilean lantern treeÂ
This was a very popular shrub planted in the 70’s and 80’s, and many of those are still around now, its crimson-red, lantern shaped flowers are produced in early summer and remain on the plant until winter. These flowers contrast very effectively against the dark green leaves. A good option for a larger border or as a specimen. Moist, well drained, acidic soil preferably in part shade. Needs a fairly warm location and best suited to mild climates.
