Tulip linifolia – Flax-leaved Tulip
A species tulip with long-lasting, open bowl-shaped, rich red flowers with a purple-black base, often with yellow marginal markings. Narrow strap-shaped foliage has fine red margins. Tulip linifolia is excellent in a rockery or grown in a container. Once flowers have been cut allow foliage to remain in place in the garden, this concentrates the plant’s energy into the bulb for strong, healthy growth the following Spring. Tulipa linifolia has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit

Position: South or West facing, in full sun
Soils: Rich but well-drained, sandy, light soil
Planting Period: September to November
